DMR Scallop Notice

This notice is to update all harvesters that NO emergency actions or closures for the scallop fishery are currently pending. Harvesting next week will follow the calendars as designated in open harvest areas.

DMR staff will continue to monitor the resource through science surveys, marine patrol observations and industry updates. We will reassess open areas weekly as information becomes available.

The Scallop Management Area Map has been updated to reflect these closures. To view closures, zoom into the local area. Also, the scallop management areas webmap does allow for location specific information on a mobile device. Enable location services on your mobile device and on the webmap, click on the compass icon to pinpoint your location.

This emergency action, effective January 1, 2018, specified harvest days for Machias Seal Island and North Rock to follow the Zone 2 calendar for open harvest. This area will also be open for the duration of March.
