Maine Lobster Licensing Bill Goes Before Legislature


After years of discussion and final months of public comment a bill to change lobster licensing in Maine is going before the legislature. The two major issues were the waiting list and the age limit. As we go to press the Revisor’s office working to make the final copy of the bill. Since it is too early in the process for a summary and too much information for hard copy publication links to the complete documents are provided below.

The first link below is the original bill as it was written. The second link contains the public testimony, work sessions and votes.

By the second week in April the final bill as it will go to the legislature for a vote will be public record and available on the Fishermen’s Voice website, fishermensvoice.com and Maine legislature’s website, Maine.gov.
