Swimathon Pledge Drive
In Machias April 7, 2012

Sage Bagley has been involved in the Machias Valley Swim Club (MVSC) affiliated with the Hurricane Swim Club of Bangor. In order to compete in Meets, the MVSC members which number about 24 children, have to travel 2 hours to the nearest certified pool. Other official pools are 4 and 5 hours drive. Our swimathon goal is to raise enough to afford the $10,000 that will buy the equipment needed so we can have our own meets. Other clubs will drive to compete at our University of Maine Olympic size pool and we will be able to charge money at these meets, furthering our fundraising ability. The community will benefit including the local high school swim clubs. The other benefit is that we will be our own swim club and can end our affiliation with the Hurricane club.

If you would like to help in our fundraiser, we are asking for donations either by one set amount, or by the lap. Sage, Cedar, and Connie will all be swimming laps. We are reaching out to you because between all our other fundraisers, girl scouts and such, we usually ask local friends and businesses for help. We are hoping that asking our folks “from away” is appropriate at this time.

We very much appreciate your help. Checks can be made out to MVCS and sent to this address:
