Union Trust Chefs Gala in Ellsworth

The run for the roses was a tremendous success as the former Marden’s in Ellsworth was transformed into Churchill Downs complete with the ladies (and some gentlemen) in their finest Derby hats parading the race track. The Union Trust Chefs Gala was a spectacular event enjoyed by 377 guests who were treated to delicious food, viewed the Preakness on the big screen (thanks to technical assistance from the local Radio Shack) and danced the night away to the fabulous Tony Boffa Band.

The chefs did a spectacular job, and the food was delicious and plentiful. Restaurants and chefs included Chipper’s Restaurant, Crocker House, Elizabeth’s Catering, Cleonice, Big Cat Catering, Chow Maine Catering, Finn’s Irish Pub, Luigi’s Ristorante, Nostrano, Silver- fox Barbecue and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital Chef Kari Leach.

Net proceeds from the evening are estimated in excess of $33,000. All proceeds from the Gala will go to the Breast Clinic at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Vicki Hall of Bar Harbor was the winner of a year’s supply of fuel oil donated by No Frills Oil with the proceeds funding mammogram scholarships at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Winners of the Manes & Tales were Helen Meyer and Kara Piper.

Photos of the evening are available on the hospital web site at www.mainehospital.org.
