Herring Days Out Meeting May 12

 

The Atlantic Herring Section Members from the states of Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire will meet at 10 am, on May 12, 2011, to discuss ‘days out’ measures for the 2011 fishing season. This meeting will take place at the Urban Forestry center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth NH, 03801. Please note the address change from previous years.

The Section set the 2011 Area 1A total allowable catch at 26,546 metric tons and agreed to seasonal quotas with 72.8% available from June 1 - September 30 and 27.2% available from October 1 - December 31.

Fishermen are prohibited from landing more than 2,000 pounds of Atlantic herring harvested from Area 1A until June 1, 2011.
